Bubbles!



Joey's new favorite hobby is bubbles.  She loves playing with them and saying the word.  Thank goodness for the dollar bins at target so we can afford to be well stocked with various bubble creation devices!

Spring Break 2013

Since Chris was scheduled to spend a week in California for work, we took the opportunity to take a spring break of our own down to Grammy and Poppy's house in Florida.  We spent the week walking along the river, celebrating with Aunt Libby at her baby shower, and playing at the beach, water park and in the pool.  By the end of our trip, Mom and kids were all spoiled and sad to have to return to reality.  In particular, Joey wanted to pack her beloved Grammy and water park in the car and bring both back with her.  We are already looking forward to our next trip!

 

Pretty, Pretty Patient

While I usually only post about happy events, I felt I should post about a monumental occasion that was pretty scary at the time...Joey's first trip to the ER.  A few weeks ago, Joey started running a fever.  It was up and down and bad enough that she would wake crying in the middle of the night.  During the second night of this, Joey woke at 2AM crying.  We followed the routine of taking her temperature, giving her some medicine, laying with her for a little bit and then putting her back to sleep.  At 3:30AM, Joey woke again and her temperature registered at 105.  Having already given her medication and knowing that 105 was the scary temperature threshold, we decided to pack her up and drive her over to the children's hospital to get checked out.  After 3 hours, a full check-up and an entire viewing of the animated movie Cars, it was deemed that Joey just had a virus and could go home.   Exhausted and relieved, we headed home but not before snapping a few photos of the adorable patient to memorialize the drama of the day...

I'm a big sister now!

It's very hard to believe, but I am a big sister now!  On February 20, Devlin James joined our family.  I'm a wonderful big sister, screaming "Hey Baby" at the top of my lungs while gently patting his tummy and going into Devlin's room when he's napping to talk to him.  Mommy seems to frown upon me visiting him during his naps, but I know that Devlin really likes it.  Love, Joey





Last day with Debs...

In January, Debbie moved away and ended her role as Joey's nanny.  Joey and Debbie adored one another so the last day was incredibly sad for all of us.  We wish Debbie all the best and hope that she comes back to visit from time to time.

The 2012 Holiday Season

We definitely weren't great about snapping pictures during this holiday season, but our lack of pictures doesn't equate to how great the days were.  Here are a few shots from Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas.

Blue Ridge

In November, we visited the Blue Ridge mountains for a relaxing weekend away with friends.  We were excited to have a new friend join us, the adorable Sawyer Duncan.  Even before Sawyer's arrival, Carson was practicing her big sister skills on Joey.  She's always looking out for her, showing her new toys and explaining the key toddler trends.  We look forward to more fun mountain trips in the future!



Happy Birthday!

It's hard to believe that Joey is already a year old and set to become a big sister.  To celebrate her first trip around the sun, we had a small birthday party with a few close friends and family.  Despite having a large cake all to herself, she did minimal damage which may be proof that having a sweet tooth isn't genetic.

As usual, she was spoiled with fabulous gifts.  Mom has been begging for a new car for years, and Daddy bought Joey one for her first birthday!
